5 REASONS TO VISIT ADARE, IRELAND
Aug 24, 20175 Reasons To Visit Adare, Ireland
I must admit that I first learned about the small Irish town of Adare by googling “most charming villages in Ireland.” Since that day, it became a must-visit stop for us on any future Irish itineraries. Here are 5 Reasons To Visit Adare during your next trip!
1). It’s One Of The Most Charming Villages In Ireland
Take it from Google, Adare it is pretty much as adorable as it gets. With its thatched-roof cottages and colorful shops, homes and pubs, this tiny town is the perfect destination for those looking to immerse themselves in Irish culture while taking a break from the larger, more populated cities. With gorgeous gardens and floral displays at every turn, Adare is one of the most picturesque towns in all of the Emerald Isle.

2). Close Proximity To Shannon Airport
If you’re flying into Shannon, which many people who plan to explore Ireland’s breathtaking west coast do, there’s really no reason not to make a stop in Adare. The drive is merely 30 to County Clare’s international airport and, like most places in Ireland, the scenery en route there is beautiful. Whether an overnight or a quick lunch and a stroll, one can easily see this cute country town either on the way to, or from, Shannon.

3). The Famous Adare Manor
Currently undergoing a major renovation, Adare Manor, a 5-star hotel and golf resort steps from Adare’s town center, was once home to Lord Earl and Lady Caroline of Dunraven, in the 1800’s. With 840+ acres of lush and pristine grounds, this Neo-Gothic-style manor has been awarded many accolades over the years for being one of the top luxury accommodations in the world. We will definitely be returning post-construction to see what I am sure will be a magnificent upgrade to the already gorgeous property.

4). It’s A Walk In The Park
We enjoyed a lovely walk through Adare’s Celtic Park and Gardens as we explored the peaceful retreat within the already calm town. Except for a few others relaxing amongst the greenery, we had the majority of the area to ourselves. The pretty park is just one of the things that make Adare as quaint as it.

5). Lunch At The Blue Door
Right on Main Street is The Blue Door- a bistro-style restaurant within one of the quintessential Adare cottages in town. Eye-catching from the outside with its— you guessed it— bright blue door, along with flowers and ivy that pop nicely draped against the building’s stone and brick, the restaurant is hard to miss. As for the food, they offer a mix of traditional Irish cuisine as well as both French and Italian-style options. Even if you’re not hungry, it’s worth grabbing a coffee in the restaurant’s outdoor patio, as the friendly atmosphere is worth the stop.
