… IS IT TOO LATE TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL?

We’ve obviously all heard of a vacation, and maybe even a staycation or workcation, but beginning Sept. 14, 2020, the Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World is adding another “cation” to the list: schoolcation.

Flexible school schedules and remote e-learning makes it easier than ever to take a family vacation when school is in session. Guests of the Four Seasons Orlando can enroll their school-age virtual learners in supervised schoolwork sessions held in a quiet, dedicated learning space. While students are “in school,” parents can take some time to relax at the lakeside infinity-edge adults-only Oasis Pool, 18-hole Tom Fazio-designed golf course, and the luxurious Spa at Four Seasons.

When’s school’s out, kids won’t want to miss their turn for fun in the sun at the ultimate after-school playground. Whether swimming in the Explorer Pool, floating down the lazy river, zooming down the water slides, or enjoying a game of sand volleyball, basketball, foosball, or table-tennis, they’ll have plenty to do at the resort’s exclusive 5-acre Explorer Island.

“We thought providing a supervised schoolwork setting could be enticing to both parents and kids who may want a break from the routine,” said Dana Berry, Four Seasons Orlando director of public relations. “After they’re done with their schoolwork, activities at the resort’s Explorer Island give kids the opportunity to truly be kids. They’ll have a blast, whether splashing and swimming at the water park, participating in a golf or tennis clinic, or playing basketball; they’ll enjoy the best ‘recess’ around!”

Supervised schoolwork sessions are available Monday through Friday in small-group physically distanced classroom settings with no more than six children per class. Each student will also have a dedicated desk area, physically distanced from other students, and high-speed premium Wi-Fi will be provided. The schedule is offered as either half-day from 9 a.m. – noon, or full-day from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Both programs include a snack break and a private terrace for outside break time. Students opting for a full-day session will order lunch from a set menu that will be delivered at the scheduled lunch break time (1-2 p.m.) Students with flexible schedules can also choose an optional enrichment period, including arts and crafts and physical education. All sessions will be supervised by the exceptionally trained Kids For All Seasons staff.

“Our kids’ club team members have enthusiastic, delightful personalities,” says Sarah Peltier, director of recreation. “They are looking forward to supporting the students while they engage in their virtual learning and bringing fun and creativity to the afternoon enrichment session.”

The cost for supervised schoolwork sessions is $50 per child for a half-day or $100 per child for a full day (includes lunch). Due to capacity limitations, reservations must be confirmed at least 48 hours in advance, and students must be overnight guests of the resort.

ADDITIONAL LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES AT THE RESORT

Kids and adults alike can enjoy “Physical Education” with individual or family golf and/or tennis lessons taught by one of the resort’s sports instructors. Plus, Alain Labreque, a certified PBI tennis professional, offers three complimentary clinics per week to help guests improve their skills on the court. The resort’s wellness trainers also offer individual or family classes in yoga, meditation, spinning, body sculpt, high-intensity cross-training, and a unique aqua fitness class held in the lazy river using the water current for resistance.

In addition, physically distanced cooking classes can be arranged with the resort’s culinary team of culinarians, and individual and family cooking classes can be reserved in Ravello’s private Demonstration Kitchen where the team of talented chefs from Ravello can teach a lesson on pasta or pizza-making or executive pastry chef Rabii Saber—a 2019 James Beard Award semi-finalist for Outstanding Pastry Chef—can teach a class on the art of chocolate making.

“This new offering exclusively for our resort guests will be helpful to parents as well as something really fun for kids,” says Thomas Steinhauer, general manager and regional vice president of Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort. “Many kids have been completing schoolwork in their homes for a while and the chance to mix up their learning environment, and combine school and playtime at the resort, is sure to be a welcome treat and create a memory that will last a lifetime.”

The resort’s Experience More package, which is available through Dec. 18, 2020, includes a $200 nightly credit for stays in a guest room, or a $500 nightly credit for stays in a suite.  The credit can be used toward any resort activity, including supervised study sessions, spa and salon treatments, golf, tennis, retail purchases, private cabana rentals, and in-room dining.
