The Mykonos Princess is sumptuous, exotic and everything we could have asked for in a Grecian hotel. Recently renovated, it is cool, clean and in true Myconian fashion, light, bright and wonderfully, white. The food was OUTSTANDING and the drinks were creative and refreshing. We already can’t wait to go back.

The hotel, in the Agios Stefanos part of the island, is all luxury, and is THE place for the ultimate “getaway.” Primarily suites, the rooms are set up like individual villas, with private, outdoor entrances, plenty of space, and balconies with oversized, kid-friendly bean bag chairs, overlooking The Agean. One of the best parts about the room was the large, stone-tiled rain shower in our bathroom, which was a hit with all of us. We loved it so much that when we got home, we had one installed in our own bathroom… The decor of the rooms at the Mykonos Princess is modern and minimalistic; lots of light color that contrasts beautifully against the backdrop of the rich, blue sea… (It makes sense that blue and white are the official colors of the nation.)

Our room, which had a great view of the water, was also perched above the pool, which is gorgeous itself- and especially beautiful when illuminated at night. The kids loved swimming in it during the day and given the heat, even I (who rarely swims because I’m a wuss and it’s always “too cold”) enjoyed wading around the water in the afternoon sun. Ryan and I also got to try a couple different cocktail concoctions made with Greek ouzo, an anise-flavored aperitif, while the kids slurped down virgin strawberry daiquiris like it was their job.

Given the tenacious heat of the summer, we often stayed on property at The Mykonos Princess during the earlier/hottest part of the day, and didn’t venture out until it cooled a bit (say, down to 85 degrees fahrenheit). This is when we would explore the local beaches and conveniently, Agios Stefanos Beach, which ended up being our favorite beach of the trip, is only a quick walk away from the hotel. The water was gloriously warm and we had a delicious post-swim meal at one of the abutting restaurants.

As a vegetarian, it is always refreshing to have an array of menu options no matter where you are traveling, and the restaurant staff at the Mykonos Princess were more than willing to accommodate my non-meat-eating self, however they could. Greek cuisine, in general, offers more veg-friendly recipes than many other country’s traditional food, so I was already off to a good start. I cannot stress just how spectacular the food was– and that includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. Everything we ate at the hotel was incredible, but for once, I think breakfast was my favorite meal, as I was not limited to pancakes. Instead, I had a variety of fruit, (Greek) yogurt with honey, fresh tomatoes, olives and cheese, and a savory spinach spanakopita-esque crunchy/fried bite of heaven that someday I’d like to attempt to make at home… although the view while enjoying them won’t be quite the same…  And now I’m drooling.

From the moment we arrived at The Mykonos Princess and were greeted by the sweet girls at the front desk (with sparkling wine, fruit and chilled cucumber water), to the time we were escorted to the airport for our departure, everything was superb. We’re definitely headed back to the Greek Isles and look forward to seeing the friends we made at the hotel. To anyone looking for a relaxing holiday in the sun— make the trip to Mykonos and be treated like royalty. You’ll certainly be in good hands at the Mykonos Princess.
