Inspired by the homes of Hawaiian monarchy, the hotel boasts an elegant, sophisticated, and hideaway feel. The Resort has gained notoriety over the years due to its legendary service, luxurious and spacious accommodations, high class spa treatments, delectable dining, and perfect locations. It regularly hosts world leaders and Hollywood icons, including Adam Sandler, Angelina Jolie, Whitney Houston, Frank Sinatra, Janet Jackson, Julie Andrews, Lionel Richie, Queen Elizabeth II, the Rolling Stones, Sir Elton John, and The Dalai Lama. During our stay, we had an encounter with Lionel Ricci in the hotel lobby!

It is located on a secluded beach, 15 minutes from the Honolulu Airport, a quick 35-minute flight from Kauai, and just ten minutes from an outstanding selection of high-end shopping and entertainment. There are a variety of options and activities for all ages. We enjoyed our luxury stay at the resort with our kids, and extended family.
The Keiko Club for Kids is a special feature at The Kahala. It provides endless fun and adventure for kids between the ages of 5 and 12 years old. They will be given the opportunity to experience the beautiful islands, build friendships with other visitors, and you will be able to relax and enjoy the sun! Some of the special children’s activities include reef walking, hermit crab racing, Hawaiian craft making (postcards, luggage tags, bookmarks, seashell bracelets), scavenger hunts, outdoor lawn games, and exploring Hawaiian tide pools.
The Resort features a saltwater swimming pool, kid’s pool and hot tub. They also offer free introductory surfing and stand-up paddle board lessons, as well as bike rentals, a fitness center, and shuttle service.
As a luxury, 5-star hotel, the Kahala Resort provides world-class dining. Five different dining options are available on-site. The Veranda, Hoku’s, Plumeria Beach House, Seaside Grill, and the Arancino at The Kahala. Each have a different atmosphere, but all offer spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean and globally inspired menus with delicious, fresh ingredients.
One of our family’s favorite island treats while staying at The Kahala Hotel & Resort was their famous Chocolate Macadamia Nuts. Available exclusively at the resort, these delectable delights are made fresh daily with premium quality Hawaiian Macadamia Nuts and are combined with the highest quality chocolate. They are packaged by hand with custom designed boxes and bound with a satin ribbon.
Another long-time favorite of the local islanders are “Kahalasadas.” These Hawaiian deep-fried doughnuts topped with a fine mix of sugar and Li Hing Mui sprinkles are now being featured at The Kahala Resort. Stop by the Plumeria Beach Resort for a fresh batch daily!
These treats were best served with Kona Coffee. The high elevation, rich volcanic soil, cloud coverage and ideal temperatures make Hawaii the ideal place to grow the perfect coffee bean.
The Kahala Hotel & Resort offers a unique experience that sets them apart from other luxury Hawaiian resorts, the Dolphin Quest. The Kahala’s natural ocean water lagoon is home to a family of Atlantic Bottlenose dolphins. Hoku, Kolohe, Nai Noa, Liho, Lono and Hua live within these sparkling resort waters, and give visitors the ability to catch of glimpse into the lives of dolphins.
The resort offers a range of programs to interact with their dolphins. You can become a trainer for a day or week, feeding and playing with the dolphins in the lagoon, encounter the dolphins for a play-date, swim with the dolphins during a personalized session, or have a dockside encounter specialized for parents and young children. Our children loved the unique experience of encountering the marine wildlife up close. It was an unforgettable experience!
